Missiles Rain on Israel in Overnight Attack from Iran

Tel Aviv — Residents across Israel woke up to explosions and air raid sirens early Monday morning as Iran launched a wave of missile strikes in one of the most serious escalations between the two countries in years.
The Israeli military says at least 38 missiles were fired from Iran between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. Most were intercepted by missile defense systems, but a few got through — hitting parts of Haifa, the Galilee, and near Tel Aviv.
“Iron Dome lit up the sky,” said one resident in the north. “We heard the blasts, grabbed our kids, and ran for shelter.”
Twelve people were injured, including two critically, according to emergency responders in Haifa. Hospitals remained on high alert as day broke. Their would had been shaken.
Why did this happen?
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the missile launch, calling it retaliation for an Israeli airstrike in Damascus last week that reportedly killed two senior Iranian military advisors. Israel has not commented on the incident.
“Our response is a warning. Continued aggression will be met with greater force,” the IRGC said in a statement.
President Donald Trump Responds:
President Donald Trump responded publicly Monday morning, warning Iran of “severe consequences” if the attacks continued.
“The full strength and might of the United States Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Speaking to reporters later, he confirmed that U.S. forces in the region are on heightened alert but stated, “We’re not involved right now — but it’s possible we could get involved.”
Trump also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to mediating the situation, adding, “I would be open to it. I know [Putin] is ready.”
The administration is reportedly preparing additional sanctions against Iran, while diplomatic channels remain open.
